College Funding
With the constant increases in higher education costs, a college savings plan
is an ideal savings vehicle for new parents. Starting a college fund early
may help parents cover educational expenses, such as tuition, room and board. In
an effort to help families endure these costs, there are several options
available. Regardless of what state plan you choose, your beneficiary can
attend any accredited college or university in the country; and contributions
can grow tax-free.*
Each plan comes with investment options, cost
structures, and contribution rules. The most appropriate choice depends on
your personal situation, where you live, the type of investor you are and how
many investment choices you want.
Anyone can open a plan for a
child or adult and they can maintain complete control over the account
throughout the years. If the original beneficiary decides not to pursue
higher education, the account can be transferred to another recipient.
